With good credit the average mortgage payment would be about $2,700.00
With a bad credit score the same loan would be about $3,400.00
That’s nearly $340,000 more you’d pay over the life of that loan just because your credit score was as little as 75 points less. Now throw in a couple hundred more each month for higher interest on cars and credit cards and you’re talking a lot of money.
So, why not just improve your credit score? Easier said then done right? Or is it? Turning a bad credit score into a good one isn’t as hard as you might think. You just need to understand how credit works. Most credit repair companies would like you to think it’s as simple as sending out a few dispute letters and hoping your bad credit will just disappear. It won’t, I promise you that. All this is going to do is cause you a lot of grief, it could make your credit worse, and it might even get you sued.
While removing bad credit is part of the equation, it’s a small part. You also have to focus on maintaining a mix of good accounts and have a methodology for making payments. Hint: If you think making your payment as soon as your bill arrives is the right way – you’d be wrong.
