Credit Repair & Debt Settlement Scams – You Wont Believe This One

Posted on April 1st, 2007 by Marc Chase Posted in Miscellaneous | No Comments

I subscribe to at least 15 blog feeds. Most are credit and debt settlement related obviously, a few I read because I think they’re great bloggers.

Today a headline showed up in my email that caught my eye from arguably one of the largest credit repair / debt settlement websites there is. I cannot believe what I uncovered and neither will you.

It started off with the usual bashing of another company (actually a credit repair book) but some of the comments he made in his post got under my skin a little bit. Now I read this type of jargon everyday and just let it slide of my back, but this crossed the line in my opinion.

So much so that I spent a good two hours on their site and found what I consider to be the most misleading site I’ve come across in a long time. The reason this website really got to me was because it has such a large following and the CEO is a big time name with some big time credentials (about the biggest).

I absolutely hate it when I see a person of influence mislead people who trust them. Compare it to politicians who take bribes, athletes who get busted for steroids or whatever you like, it’s just wrong to abuse a position of trust and influence.

My initial thought was “man can I write a blog about this and create some real buzz” but then I came to my senses. My Credit Group has always stood for morals and going against the grain so I’ve decided not to.

What I decided to do is write them a letter personally asking them to consider what they have said and point out poof positive that they are wrong. I’ve asked them to let me show them the proof and give them a chance to rephrase their misleading and erroneous information.  Sure, the article I could have written would have given us tons of links and the traffic we need, but it’s wrong.

I don’t think you should publicly criticize others. On the other hand, people are being hurt by this information and should they choose to ignore my personal letter I will put the details here later.

Now that I’m done ranting…let me drop a few names that I spoke of in the opening paragraph. These blogs have nothing to do with credit, debt, or debt settlement, just great bloggers and great people in general…go check them out.
