Mortgages ready to increase, we thought we lend a few money saving tips.
Some of these may not apply to all of you but hopefully, some of them will.
Paying your bills with checks: The average household will receive between 15 to 20 bills per month. The cost of an envelope and stamps at .39 each that can be as much as $150.00 per year in postage.
Paying the minimum on credit cards: The average U.S. household carries around 10,000 in credit card debt. At an average annual interest rate of 13 percent, you’ll spend about $1,000 on finance charges alone in one year.
Letting your water run: If you were to use a bucket when washing your car, you could save anywhere from 80 to 100 gallons of water per wash. Also, letting the water run while you brush your teeth is about another 7 gallons of water and doing half loads of laundry is another big killer. If you were to implement those things, according to the California Water Conservation council it would result in an average yearly savings of 190.00 per year.
Trips to the ATM: Now I used to be the worst abuser of this one. I would go to an ATM at least once per day (yes I can be pretty disorganized) Well, if you think about that 30 X’s 1.50 fee is $45.00 per month, or $540.00 per year.
Using Coupons: Another thing I’m bad at is using coupons. In fact I don’t think I’ve ever used one in my life. However, I do know some coupon experts who swear they save over $100.00 per month
Put your water heater on a timer: This is another one I cannot verify personally, but we have had more then one person tell us about it. A water heater takes about 15 to 20 minutes to heat up. So, if you are gone all day at work, it doesn’t need to be on. It can also shut off while you're sleeping, and have it set to turn on ½ before you wake up.
If you have any money saving tricks you and your family use, we’d love to hear about it.
