Legal Credit Repair Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Collection Agency Really Sue You?
Asset Acceptance left a letter on my door friday saying they would sue me over something I don't even recognize.
I called Asset and explained I never heard of the credit card they were talking about and they were very rude.
They said I have to file a police report and prove it isn't mine, or they would sue me.
Can they do this?

I think they can sue you if you cannot prove its not yours.

Actually, it's just the opposite. Collection Agencies love to say that and Asset Acceptance is no different. You’re not required to file a police report, they are required to prove the debt is valid; hence the term Debt Validation.
If this is their first contact with you, make sure you validate within 30 days of receiving notice from them.
Furthermore, Asset Acceptance (in my opinion) has a nasty little habit of re-aging debts. If you haven't already done so, I would pull your credit report and look for any collections.
Pay close attention to open dates & last activity dates. If you have any other questions, please post them here.
Have a great day.

Client Testimonials
To the staff at My Credit Group,
As a senior loan specialist for one of the nations top lenders, being able to deliver top notch services to our clients is paramount. Admittedly, I was hesitant to refer my clients to a credit repair company.
That was two years and several successful loans ago, and I can honestly say that you've handled every aspect of your business with complete professionalism. I've heard nothing but but exceptional feedback from my clients, and outstanding results in their credit scores.
To anybody considering using a credit repair company, My Credit Group is the only choice in my opinion.
Sincerely,
Eric Atilano Sr. Loan Specialist
