Credit Repair Review Websites Aren't Always Trustworthy

S
o you set out to do your homework before making any credit repair decision, you read all of the credit repair reviews you could find online. Your judgment comes from hours of research and diligent note-taking. Consumers just like you have guided you in the best direction possible with their reviews of various companies; or so you thought.

The reality is that the vast majority of credit repair reviews are written for personal profit. Entrepreneurs selling rankings on their review sites to the highest bidder; they purchased a website that will catch a consumer’s eye, and their reviews are based on which company paid the most money.

Which Reviews Are Real?
When searching review sites, see if there are advertisements for any of the reviewed companies right there on the site. That’s usually an indication that the “reviewer” is receiving money from that company; it’s obviously a direct conflict of interest. Another sure sign of a fake credit repair review (in our opinion) are sites stating "XXX credit repair company raised my score 200 points overnight"

Think about this: We've all experienced great customer service at one time or another. But none of us have ever taken the time to actually build a website to talk about how great our experience at H&R Block was. It cost a lot of money, time and experience to maintain those websites.

Use the Better Business Bureau as your measuring stick. While they don’t necessarily review each individual business, they will give an overall BBB Rating along with some statistics as to how many complaints they have received regarding that company. While no company is perfect, these complaints should indicate if they are irritating too many clients.

Speak Directly to the Company
Since everybody’s financial affairs are different, a good credit repair company is receptive to your particular situation. They should design a plan of action that is specific to you, and have various ways to improve your credit scores. A cookie cutter solution does not work when it comes to credit repair; find a company that you feel comfortable with and don’t be afraid to ask questions
