Judgement about to expire, can they sue me again?
It's now been almost 10 years on a judgement that I have against me on my credit report. I have never paid, and no one has ever come collecting for that money. But in speaking to a credit repair person, they indicated that the government can sue me again, putting it on my credit report for another 10 years. This has made me think that I should just pay it off. But my question is can the government sue me again after the 10 years has expired, or do they have to do so within the 10 years of the judgement on my credit reports?

You cannot be sued for the same debt twice. If a judgement is about to expire it can be renewed by the judgement creditor. You do mention that it is government, can you tell me what type of government debt?

Thanks for the reply Mangie.
It was state income taxes that I never paid. When I moved out of state I never thought about it again until I saw it on my credit reports a few years later. If they were to renew this debt, would they have to do so before the 10 years expired, or could they renew it at any time?
Thanks again so much for your help.
