Can they report bad credit after seven years?

Im having a debate about the statute of limitations on debt. Ive been under the impression that credit bureaus cant report negative information after the SOL, but there are some items from beyond seven years that are still reporting? Is this illegal?

For the most part you are correct; with a few exceptions. BK's are 10 years. Some judgments can be renewed and Child Support, Student Loans & taxes can haunt you to the ends of the earth until the day you die
