im about to get divorced and have more than a few joint and several contracts with my husband. Is it possible to have a creditor release me from his contractual obligations (such as his truck)? any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Ambrea,
You may want to check with a divorce attorney on this. Also find out if you're in a common law state. however, I can say with confidence you probably wont get the creditor to release you from the debts because you're getting divorced.
A lot our credit repair clients are dealing with the same thing. In fact, most of them will have a divorce decree that states the other spouse is responsible for paying certain credit cards and that still doesnt release them.
In short the creditors stance is that you signed a contract while married and just because you are no longer married doesn't change that fact.
Thanks for the response, but that sucks. So even though were divorced and he is taking full responsibility, they can still ruin my credit if he doesnt pay? grrrrrrrr i got the short end of the stick in this whole divorce.
Oh well, life goes on. Thanks for the response. Im really learning a lot here.
