i keep seeing people say things that would indicate that disputing is a bad way to fix your credit. I understand that it can be unethical if you try to dispute accurate items. But does that necessarily mean it doesn't work?

Hi Simon,
You're right, disputing things you know to be accurate is unethical and yes, you're probably going to be disappointed with the results. if you just apply a little common sense, it might become more clear.
Do you really think the credit bureaus and the creditors (some of the biggest companies in the world) aren't smart enough or technologically advanced enough to verify an accurate item? If erasing bad debts was as easy as sending a few letters...our economy would collapse.
Sure millions of items are deleted all the time, but what these credit repair companies aren't telling you is the other half of the story. Almost every item deleted is re-inserted shortly after.
We just wrote a blog about this today: Quick Credit Fixes
