i have taken out several student loans in the past, they went into default but I want to start paying them off. the problem is, I am being billed for much more than i was loaned.

Im sure much of the balance should have been covered under grants. i talked to the financial aid person at the school i went to and they were unable to help me figure it out.

Its all greek to me, so is there any way to research these loans and determine whether theyre valid or not? If not, can you dispute student loans? if they cant prove you owe the amount they say you do, what happens to the loan at that point?
