Adverse accounts, when will they be removed?

I recently just pulled a Trans Union credit report and noticed a few accounts that are showing in the Adverse Accounts section. There is one that is a paid collection. I paid this collection about four years ago. I also have a few accounts with several late pays from like three years ago when I was out of a job. Now, stupid me, I thought by paying off the collection it would automatically drop off, later to find out that it won't unless the collector approves of it. Anyways, how long will it take for all the adverse stuff to drop off my credit report? It seems like it's already has been a really long time. And by being there for that long, is it really having a huge impact on my score.

    Thanx for any input!

    Hi MsPenny,

Assuming the adverse accounts are accurate and you do not plan on disputing them, they will stay on your credit report for about 7 years from the time you originally defaulted with the original creditor.
