i'm not sure how related to credit repair this is, but I can't seem to find answers elsewhere...

i got a payday loan about a year ago and I never paid it back. last week I went into a different loaction (but apparently one affiliated with the one that gave me the loan) to cash my paycheck. they literally took my check and withheld the money I owed the other place. so i totally lost out on my check. i raised hell and the cops were almost called.

but i just can't belive that they have a right to do this! even though she said they did have the right.

so here's the question: if you owe a debt, can that person physically withhold your money from you without first taking you to court to get a judgment? if what they did was illegal, what can i do about it?
