Dispute letter to collection agency lawyer?

Hi. I am in credit card debt where my debt is in the hands of collection agency lawyers. The other day, I called one of the collection agency who has a judgment against me and tried to negotiate for a settlement. They were asking for an amount which I can't afford to pay. I gave my offer and they said that I will have to write a disputer letter to them in order to consider the amount and negotiate. My question is, what is this disputer letter they are asking for? What am I supposed to write in this dispute letter? What details or specifics do I need to mention in this disputer letter? I need your help. Thanks in advance

Dispute letter to collection agency lawyer?

They are looking for a settlement letter- which can include a lump sum or a payment plan that you are offering to pay and also a time limit in which it will be paid in full. Here is an example:

    Date

    Collection Agency Name
    Address
    City, ST, Zip

    RE: Settlement of Account

    Dear Collection Manager,

This letter is to offer a settlement for the account number listed below, I am willing to offer 25 cents on the dollar as payment in full.

    Account ______________________________________

    Total Owed:_______________________________

Settlement Offered:__________________________(.25 cents on the dollar)

If these terms are acceptable to you please sign below and return to me immediately. I will put my payment for $___________ in the return mail.

Also, please make a note after this item in my credit report stating "Call subscriber for current information" to assure future creditors that this matter has been settled. Thank you for your kind consideration and your prompt attention.

    Approved by:________________________________________Collect ion Manager

    Sincerely,

    Your Full Name
    Your Mailing Address

    Your signature

If you choose to offer more money on the dollar, then change your amount in the letter to .45 cents or .50 cents, whatever you want it to be, just remember if you get your letter back and the agency agrees to your settlement, be sure and pay it right away. They may reject your amount willing to pay, but it you stick to your amounts, you may be able to win that battle. Remember, collection agencies paid pennies on the dollar for debts and will try to get the full amount out of you. I also suggest paying with a money order so there is no chance of any issue with a personal check.
