Goodwill Letter
Here is yet another effective tool to have in your credit repair kit – a letter of goodwill to your creditors.
As we all know, sometimes circumstances arise that cause consumers to miss a payment or two here and there on their credit accounts. While this might not seem like such a big deal for your credit file, as we’ve shown before those late payments can add up and start to damage your overall standing with the credit bureaus if you leave them unchecked.
So what’s an effective way to negotiate with your creditors to remove those late blemishes from you credit reports, besides basic dispute letters? Enter the goodwill letter.
If you’ve fallen on hard financial times recently, which have caused you to miss payments on your credit accounts, a letter of goodwill – asking your creditors to drop the late payment notices from the report on account of having a good payment history with them in the past – could be just what you need to get your credit file back on track.
Keep in mind, your creditor are not obligated to delete the late notice(s) from you history, but if your previous track record with them looks better than it currently does, they may be open to the request.
